Autumn Term 2

This half term is very busy and our learning will be focused around different topics, which include:  Fireworks, Remembrance, The Gunpowder Plot and Christmas.

  • In English, we will be working on our sentence writing skills.
  • In Phonics, we will be recapping Phase 3 sounds.
  • In Spelling, we will be recapping Year R’s words.
  • In Maths, we will be focusing on numbers up to 20.
  • In Science, we will be learning about the effects of pushes and pulls.
  • In Art, we will be making powder paint and mixing colours.
  • In RE, we will be learning about the Christmas story
  • In PE, we will be joining in with multi-skills.
  • We will be rehearsing our Christmas Nativity ready for our performances.

The children have come into school brilliantly and are learning their new routines very well.

This half term we will be using the film ‘The Jungle Book’ as a stimulus for our learning.

  • In Maths, we will be focusing on number.
  • In Science, we will be learning about what animals eat.
  • In Art, we will be using clay to sculpture a jungle animal.
  • In DT, we will be making a jungle diorama.
  • In RE, we will be learning about the Christian festival Harvest and the Jewish festival of Sukkot.
  • In PE, we will be joining in with both yoga and multi-skills.

We have begun to practise our letter formation. Below is a poster of how our letters look like at school. You could write them, draw them in the sand or even paint them. We are beginning to learn rhymes that go with each letter, to help us remember the letter shape and how to write them.
